HOW TO USE

    1. There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ treatment when it comes to removing urine stains and odours. No matter what surface (hard or soft) is being treated it is always recommended to proceed carefully and test the outcome (result) in an inconspicuous area before proceeding with full treatment. Play it safe and test first!

    1. When it comes to removing urine stains and odours PetLab is not a spray and wipe solution it requires sufficient dwell time to do its job. It must remain wet/moist and in contact with the urine deposits long enough for the bio-enzymatic action to complete the work required to break down and eliminate the urine crystals (the source of the odour)

    1. NEVER use other cleaners or chemicals of any kind at the same time as PetLab — this will reduce its effectiveness. If other chemicals have been previously used, be sure to rinse the area repeatedly to remove all traces and allow to dry completely before using PetLab!.

    1. As a rule of thumb use a volume of PetLab solution that is approximately equal to the amount of urine that originally caused the stain.

    1. It is normal for the smell to intensify after the initial treatment. It is a sign that the biological cleaning process is taking place and the uric acid crystals are being broken down and brought to the surface.

Treating Fresh Stains

    1. First, you need to remove any solid waste and blot up any excess urine from the surface to be treated.

    1. Wash down the affected area using clean water only – NO CHEMICALS! The idea is to flush out and wipe away the residue from any previously used chemical based cleaners.

    1. Extract the excess water by blotting it up with an absorbent paper towel or microfibre cloth. The best way is to use a carpet shampooer or wet/dry vac to extract the dirty water leaving it moist, the best condition to commence the PetLab treatment. These are available from floor care retailers.

    1. Whilst still moist, apply PetLab generously over the affected area covering about 30cm's of area surrounding the visible surface stain and working inwards towards the stain. This is because the urine spreads out when it penetrates the underlay and reaches the hard floor and to be most effective, the enzymes need to make complete contact with all the urine. Once in contact with the urine the enzymes will follow the same path that the urine would have taken originally, eating and digesting the uric acid crystals all the way to the source of the stain.

    1. Leave to dwell until dry. If the area you are treating is in a sunny/warm part of the house, cover it with a plastic tarp or other non-porous cover to prevent rapid evaporation and premature drying. The enzymes are more active and work better in moist conditions. Remember the bio enzymatic cleaning process takes place during the drying time.

    1. Spray the treated area with a small amount of water to wipe away any residue left behind from the bio-enzymatic action.

Treating Old Set-In Stains

Be aware that long-term urine exposure to any surface can burn the surface causing a permanent stain which cannot be reversed. Treatment of such an area using PetLab will work to remove the odour and in most cases can fade the permanent stain.

    1. First, you need to re-activate the old stain by washing it down with a liberal amount of water only. NO CHEMICALS OR SHAMPOO!

    1. Extract any excess water by blotting it up with an absorbent paper towel or microfibre cloth. The best way is to use a carpet shampooer or wet/dry vac to extract the dirty water leaving it moist, the best condition to commence the PetLab treatment. Carpet extractors are available from floor care retailers.

    1. Spray a liberal amount of PetLab enzyme solution onto the affected area. A sufficient amount for it to seep through the pile and underlay to reach the floorboard below.

    1. Cover the treated area with a plastic tarp or other non-porous covering to keep it as moist as possible for as long as possible. Once dry, wipe away any residue left behind using water only.

Note: Where urine deposits are heavy, old, or other urine odour/stain products have been used, more than one PetLab treatment may be required.
